I spent a quarter century in the military and can assure you there is no such thing as an “assault rifle.”
I understand the visual concept many now mistakingly have regarding this ignorant misnomer. Unfortunately, the misconcept is due to the long and pervasive money-making “blood leads” mindset used by the media and hollywood misreprentation of such arms.
People, such as yourself, are referring to fully automatic (one squeeze of the trigger and multiple rounds are fired) firearms. These weapons are made and sold soley to military and law enforcement entities. Civilians essentially cannot own them. Military grade weapons (like ISIS uses or that are seen in Hollywood movies) are not being used by mass killers as described in Charleston, so they should not be part of any argument.
Only SEMI automatic rifles are ever sold in stores today, regardless of their appearance. And, I fully assure you, the way a gun looks does not determine its functionality.
There is no more an assault rifle than there is an assault bat, assault noose or an assault machete.
]]>Eliminating guns won’t eliminate the problem.
]]>In Austria last week a man rammed his car intentionally into a crowrd of innocent people, then got out and starting stabbing people. The Boston Marathon bombers didn’t use a gun to kill and maim a large number of people.
And PLEASE don’t post nonsense about buying “assault rifles from their local supermarkets”. It’s obvious you don’t have the slightest idea about US gun laws. You’re just as bad as the reporters and politicians who talk about a “gun show loophole”, but have never been to a gun show (where they would discover that 99% of the gun sellers are licensed dealers who perform background checks).
]]>Absolutely agree. despite whatever Nikki Haley and other Republican political leaders say in the first few days, in the end they will cow to to the NRA lobby and nothing will change.
Go ahead prove me wrong. – I dare you. I double dare you.
It didn’t happen after Sandy Hook, It didn’t happen after Gabby Giffords was shot. It didn’t happen after the Aurora Movie theater shooting. Prove me wrong.
As long as the NRA or GOAL or other Gun Manufacturer Lobbying groups are in charge Nothing will happen.
]]>The problem is that these prescription drugs CHANGE the way people think and behave. Most school shootings were done by individuals who were medicated with drugs like Effexor, Luvox, Paxil, etc. These are mind altering drugs that cause hallucinations and erratic behavior. They can intensify feelings and thoughts that a person already has, or prompt a person to conger up irrational thoughts and then act violent. My research found that these drugs alter the brain almost immediately. More than 52% of male foster children at higher levels of care are being prescribed these drugs as a method of social control. And as many as 25% [depending on the studies you read] of non-system children are also being diagnosed with ADHD, Bi-Polar, OCD, CD, ODD etc and are prescribed these drugs. These drugs alter behavior, and not for the better…
]]>It’s a lot easier to eliminate guns than to eliminate people.
]]>If they had no guns they would find or make other weapons, like bombs. People intent on killing others find ways to do it. And no matter what they use, it’s still the PERSON, no the WEAPON that is the problem. Bombs don’t go off unless someone puts them together & sets it off. Knives don’t jump out of drawers and attack. Guns don’t jump up & start shooting.
PEOPLE with issues of whatever kind they have, are the common denominator in all attacks.
]]>But what if they had no guns to fire in the first place? It makes mass shootings impossible.
In the UK we’ve had terror attacks where the perpetrators could only get hold of knifes because of our ban on guns, I shudder to think what would of happened if they could of picked up assault rifles from their local supermarkets!
]]>Ban the guns and repeal the second amendment. It’s that simple. You can’t be trusted to play with guns in the states!
