Hey[edit]
Saw your Byron images, good stuff despite the storm. I find it funny that your picture of the Soldier's Monument looks almost exactly the same as mine. : ) We'll get a good one eventually, I am sure. I'll probably be going to either Lee County or Charles Mound tomorrow, depends on how long and far I feel like driving. I will cross post this on Wikipedia. IvoShandor 17:31, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

Wind turbines[edit]
Hi, the turbines, are around Paw Paw, about exit 83 on the west side on I-39. I've geocoded this one. Dori - Talk 03:09, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
- I don't do that much traveling around Illinois, but I used to do the road Urbana <-> Madison, WI pretty often, and I'd stop by the rest areas around there. Once I just decided to stop and take some shots of the wind turbines. The images of Illinois I have are here. If you want something from the Champaign-Urbana area let me know and I'll see what I can do. Dori - Talk 03:39, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, those images are from the same place. Dori - Talk 13:56, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
Historic Places[edit]
Hi, been a while, but today I went out and took a few photographs, keep an eye on Category:Registered Historic Places in Champaign County, Illinois if you're still interested. --Dori - Talk 01:43, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
- Also some in Category:University of Illinois Experimental Dairy Farm Historic District. --Dori - Talk 22:11, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

- Sadly, I think there's a point. Maybe we should stick to only photos of old buildings... *sigh* --Ebyabe (talk) 17:48, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
- Well, it isn't to be mean or anything, but since I learned about freedom of panorama I've nominated such images for deletion when I found them. For the greater good, you know. FunkMonk (talk) 18:11, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
- No, no, that's understood. It's just that it's another potential limitation on what we can get photos of. I just wonder sometimes if we over-worry about this kind of stuff. I mean, how often has The Foundation gotten in legal trouble for this? That's not an excuse, per se, just curiosity. Cheers! --Ebyabe (talk) 20:38, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
- Yah, I thought so too during such a deletion request, but realised that there are a lot of such images that can still be used, from the UK for example, so it's just a matter of where the picture was taken, not what the subject is. FunkMonk (talk) 21:21, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

This has to be one of the stupidest reasons for deletions. I realize that you are following the rules of the Commons, so don't take it personally. But if this is all about sculptures and whatnot, people are going to start claiming buildings, or what they are doing is copyrighted, then what? Delete every single structure, every single dinosaur that has been constructed because it might violate something? This will then just make this place good for nothing. This is not for the greater good, since you will never be able to show what people have done.--Kranar drogin (talk) 22:45, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
- As it was stated to me by someone else its an "overzealous interpretation of the law", which is spot on and I am sorry to see this happening to the WikiCommons. A pity.--Kranar drogin (talk) 22:46, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
- Well, it only applies to specific countries, and you'd have to look at the laws of these specific countries to see if they differentiate between buildings and other stuff. There's a list of countries and their laws on the FOP page. FunkMonk (talk) 06:06, 22 September 2008 (UTC)

Minor correction[edit]
Winnebago Il page, you call the photo a picture of the “Main Street”. The street shown is North Benton street and although it contains the old business district, it is by no means the main street in the village. Who cares? Probably no one but just something that caught my eye

Your account will be renamed[edit]
Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Kranar drogin. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Kranar drogin~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
Community Liaison, Wikimedia Foundation
