Killian is the founder of the Secular Student Alliance at Morehead State University which they started in response to Kim Davis, the local county clerk, who denied marriage licenses to gay couples on the basis of religion. Killian has served on the national board of directors for the Secular Student Alliance, and currently works in the non-profit sector.
